Winter Wonderland In The Desert

I’m so excited that you have stopped by for my little Christmas Home Tour. If you are following along our Joyful Home tour with the rest of my amazing blogger friends, then you have just come from Rachel’s home at The Porch Light Cottage. I love how Rachel has sprinkled just the perfect amount Christmas throughout her home. I hope that you will stick around to check out all of the other gorgeous homes in this tour at the end of this post.

Christmas here in the desert of Tucson Arizona is everything but freezing cold…just the way I love it. We have managed to receive some snow a couple of times in the last 9 years that I have lived here, but it is rare and usually happens one morning and then melts by the afternoon.  The snow covered desert sure is an amazing place to be when it happens.

(Saguaro Prints and other prints taken by myself can be found in My Vintage Porch Etsy Shop)

I decided to change up the location of my stockings this year and I am loving it. This area serves as many purposes, including my entry way, part of my dining area, and part of our living area. I love adding layers and textures to add warmth and coziness in every area in our home. Chester loves to lie here and wait for our kids to get home.  When we open up the front door the light streams through and allows him to check out all of the birds and our neighbors on their strolls.

I am in love with our new stairccase that my husband built recently from the amazing hickory wood from Baird Brothers. I can’t wait to show you our “how to” and the full before and after reveal.

This is our living area that is shared with our entryway. My hubs and I made this wall clock from a table top and it is one of my favorite projects to date.

At the top of our stairs is my kids area. I wanted it to be somewhat of a winter wonderland this year, resembling elf land in the movie “Elf”. I love the way it turned out and all of the diy budget friendly snowflakes.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope that you enjoyed my Christmas tour in the desert and that you will come back again next week for more tour fun with new space reveals and Christmas decor ideas. Don’t miss out on all of the other amazing homes in our Joyful Holiday Home Tour. Next stop is Laura from Meaningful Spaces. I love her home and I know you will too. Have a wonderful Christmas and holiday season my friends.

Its a winter wonderland for sure! Love your taste and can see why your children love their home. Chester is such a sweetie and I love seeing him in all your pictures. I am afraid my two Yorkiepoos would have those pillows rearranged in two minutes. LOL Thanks for sharing your home all decked out for Christmas.

Hi! I’ve been following your instagram stories for a while and love your diy projects. I noticed your thick wool blanket and wonder if you made that or bought it? They’re a little pricey so I wonder if they are worth it? Your opinion? Where did you get yours?

It’s finally done! Yayyyy! This bathroom wouldn’t be complete without Caséta by @lutronelectronics lighting controls! (Sponsored) We used the new Caséta by Lutron Diva Smart Dimmer switch! The Diva Smart Dimmer has a slider on the side that lets us brighten or dim the lights to whatever level we desire! Tired morning eyes that don’t want to see the bright lights of day?…no problem! We can just slide the switch down to a low dim and keep it there for the next time we turn the lights on, if we desire. We can even use the Lutron app on our phone, so if we forget to turn the lights off in the bathroom (and by “we”, I mean the kids), we can just swipe them off with a tap of our phone! As an added bonus, we also installed one of Lutron’s timers to control our exhaust fan! I didn’t even know they had one, but now I want one in our other bathroom too! We can set it for constant mode to stay on and not shut off, or, set the timer with a tap and it will shut off automatically when the timer ends! I feel like I’m living in luxury with Caséta by Lutron lighting controls…and with a clean kid’s bathroom too. 😁 Now, how long do you think they can keep this clean? 🤔#LutronAmbassador #CasetaSmarterLighting
A window behind the bed and off centered paintings A window behind the bed and off centered paintings…I love it but who is hot and bothered? 🤔😂 I may have to add a couple more paintings when I find the right ones, like they are crawling up the wall, but for now, I like it like this. 😁 #bedroominspo #bedroomdecor #bedroomdesign #antiquepainting
(Swipe over) Do the “before” photos even make (Swipe over) Do the “before” photos even make sense? Like, can you see the layout difference since we took down the wall? It’s such a fun room and I’m so happy that this butterfly got it’s wings…that means, I love how it turned out, but if you don’t like it, I guess you would say, where the butterfly got ran over again and again…and again. But to me…this butterfly is flying right into a lake of chocolate…well, unless you don’t like chocolate, then maybe it’s just a cake, or a pie, or candy…I like it a lot…that is all. Oh, that, and I love this island we got from @antiquitieswarehouse 🤩#kitchen #kitchenisland #furnituredesign
This trashed dresser that I refinished is one that This trashed dresser that I refinished is one that has moved with us through all of the moves and now it’s finally home. If you wondered where it ended up, it’s right here in the dining room and I love it! #trashtotreasure #fixedup #beforeandafter #apothecary
I like books…but I rarely read books 🤔 …it’s kind of like staring at Trav when he wiggles, snores, and whistles…always wondering why he does these things, but never knowing. Knowing is half the battle, but sometimes we just have to be ok with not knowing…there’s a lot of things in these books that I may never know…but I will look through all of them some day to see if there’s any hidden money. #booksbooksbooks
