Loving Our New Blinds

Filed Under: Home Decor Tagged With: anthropologie, antique, better homes and gardens, blinds, brick wall, cozy, crate and barrel, decorating, decoration, diy, fall colors, fall decor, farmhouse style, faux brick, home, home decor, house and home, house beautiful, living room, master bedroom, neutral decor, pottery barn, select blinds, shades, tutorial, vintage, wall clock, wood blinds, woven wood blinds

When I managed to ruin the blinds in our home, I knew exactly where I would go to find new ones. If you saw any of my IG stories about me bleaching my old wood blinds, then you will know that it worked. But, then I decided to white wash them with white stain, on top of bleaching them, and my impatient job of slapping on the stain didn’t really work out to good for me.

I have many other blinds from Select Blinds in my home and I love every one of them! I have always loved these woven wood shades and the natural/neutral look that they give! I couldn’t be happier with the end result! They are offering all of you, my friends, 5% off of their already reduced prices with the code: “PORCHv5”. I love it when companies offer discounts! I’ve loved every bit of working with this amazing company!

You can see the blind details and color, here , that I used in our upstairs. These blinds have a light filtering liner, which I love because it lets light in but keeps the blazing sun from amping up the heat in our upstairs AND gives us privacy. All liners and no cord options are add ons, but well worth it in my opinion.

I’m loving the “Fiji Honey” Designer Ultimate Woven Wood Shades in our downstairs area! I decided to go with no liners in our downstairs living areas so that it would feel light and bright and let all the light in possible while still giving a barrier from the blazing sun here in Tucson. I never knew how much I would love the blinds with no liners. They are perfect for this area. I love how Select Blinds has so many different options to customize each space of our home, just the way we like it.

And, Chester does too.

This is what we call our “front room”, as it’s the room that one sees when first stepping foot in our home. It’s the combination of our dining and one of our living areas. I hung the curtains extra high in here. It makes the windows look and feel larger as well as allows for the ceiling height to appear higher too.

Here is a view of this room without the blinds. I love it this way too, but the added texture and light barrier of the blinds is perfect and exactly what we were looking for. This amazing wool rug from Loloi Rugs is perfect for Fall too! I love all of the colors in this rug. It brings a little “pop” into my otherwise white space. I was looking for something to warm up this space for Fall and this rug is exactly what I was looking for! I love the feel of wool rugs under my feet too!

I love how the blinds fold over at the top too to hide the hardware. It gives the blinds such a classy look.

The amount of lighting that these blinds let in is perfect…not too much and still enough while allowing for privacy too!

Another option I chose was the “no cord” option. I have to say, that this is one of my favorite things! We don’t have small children to worry about getting caught in the blinds anymore but it’s so nice to not have cords hanging down in front of the blind. I love the clean crisp lines of no cords.

In our master bedroom I chose the room darkening shades. It’s already hard enough for me to sleep at night and I love how this gives the option for us to totally cut out the light from outside when we need a little extra sleep in the morning…if that ever happens in this busy life of ours. If we ever decide we want the light shining through in the morning, we just keep our blinds open.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope that this helps answer alot of the questions that I was receiving about our new blinds. I love them so much! And don’t forget to use the code “NK5VP” if you are going to grab some for yourself. Happy Day, my friends!

Can you please tell me where you got that gorgeous rug in the “ Loving Our New Blinds” blog post. I ordered a free sample of the honey Fiji blinds you have. and think they could work nicely in my living room. I love all your home projects and wish my husband was as handy as yours! Lol! Warm regards from the apple orchards of upstate New York!

Thank you Cristina! That’s awesome! I actually found it on an Etsy shop if it’s the one that I think you’re talking about with Chester sitting on it.

Our kitchen to come may be a little outside the norm and I’m super pumped about it! Oh, and lots of you wondering the cost of this hutch...let’s just say if you could have a new car or a new hutch, which would you choose? Do you think I bent the jigsaw blade? 😬 (swipe Do you think I bent the jigsaw blade? 😬 (swipe over) It was worth it all none the less. This was a “bench in a day” project. The thing that took the longest was refinishing it, the rest was cake...after we fixed the boards that Bob the Builder messed up. It will eventually go in the hallway. I hadn’t added the screws here yet bc I was running out of daylight to get a photo but check stories and I’ll show you how I’m (I mean Trav) is putting it together. He insisted on helping me when my arm fell off from all of the refinishing. What a sweet guy! ♥️ #rusticbench #diybench

Can you believe I added layers of texture to this thing, painted it, didn’t like it, decided to sand it to the nubbins, white washed it, and then glazed it?!?! 🤩 Yeah, most of you probably know me too well by now...I’m nutso and I know it. Now to decide if I should put the original hardware back on or change it up. I’m thinking I’m loving the look of the old hardware on it. What do you think? And, I’ll let you in, if you bring grain free brownies...or cupcakes...but I prefer the brownies🤔. And, I would share my grain free pretzels with you...After crying about Hallie forgetting my pretzels that one time, I now have about 10 bags fully stocked at all times. 😂 #morepots #thegoodkind #antiquepots
