Our Christmas Guest Room

Chester and I worked super hard to get this room cleaned out for our guests to come this Christmas. As this is our spare room, it also has the pleasure of being the “catch all” for everything that we don’t have a place for. I don’t know if you have ever done this before but when we clean out a room, we first need to clean the closet where everything is going to get shoved and then throw a million things away in the closet. I hope you will stick around for the source list at the end of this post.

Well, I feel like our house is a lot less cluttered (minus the garage) and Chester and I are now ready to give you a little tour of this space. I shared this Christmas art a while back that I switch out for different seasons. I love these old vintage looking prints! Chester is more into the tree. He wanted to add lights sooooo….

we did. We added lights, just for Chester. Actually it was for my sweet nieces and nephew coming but Chester feels better if we talk about it like it was just for him.

I made this JOY sign. It was a fun, easy, and budget friendly DIY. The rusty jingle bells in the middle have to be my favorite part.

I recently brought out our old record player there on the dresser and we played lots of Christmas music on it while cleaning up. It made the process so much more fun.

I added these 2 stockings for a cozy, Christmas touch. One is hanging from a tack nail and the other is hanging under the books. The books, I found at a thrift store and just tore off the covers for a neutral look.

When Chester starts to sleep, you know he is done modeling and ready for a treat. I actually say, “can you lay all the way down?” and this is what he does. He even closes his eyes for the perfect shot. What a sweet pup.

Thank you for stopping by! Chester is ready for a long winter’s nap after all of that cleaning, or maybe from following me around while I was cleaning. I love having a fluffy shadow. I hope you all have a beautiful Christmas 2017. I am so thankful for all of you and that you have chosen to follow along my home decor/diy journey.

I dream up plans and Trav helps me make them come true! We thought it would be fun to make a huge budget friendly mirror that is even better than a $3000 mirror and this one definitely fits the bill! We drew up our own plan, built it, added some trim, and voila! I’m so in love and I just can’t stop staring at it!! Trav’s fingers might be a little sore from attaching all of that trim, but he says it was worth it! DIY tutorial coming soon, on the blog. #standingmirror #diymirror
See what I did with the chairs? I left them outsid See what I did with the chairs? I left them outside. 😁 I was getting ready to sand one of these other chairs down today and I thought, “I’m going to take them in and sit them by the table and see what I think”, because I love the old, battered, beat up look of them! What do you know?… they work perfectly in here...much better than the bleached chairs were looking in this space! And, there was no sanding, staining, or painting involved! Are you surprised?...probably not, if you know me. 🤪(There were also no bonfires behind the scenes of this post) #theyreakeeper #andChestertoo

Have you been following along with my table saga j Have you been following along with my table saga journey in stories? I finished it today, what do you think? I’m glad I listened to Trav, for once, and didn’t take it back outside and sand it down for a second time, before I was finished. 😁 I was nervous about how it was looking when I was halfway through, but it turned out so pretty! (Swipe over to see the “before”) I added all of the details of how I achieved this lighter wood finish to my blog. (link in profile) I’m so pleased with the result! Chester loves it too! #butcherblocktable #lightwoodfinish #rustic

I did move the dog fur from under the church pew for the photo though. 😁 It feels so good to have real plants in here!! I need a tree for that crock now that I’ve moved it to my other planter.
