Our Lighting

Filed Under: Uncategorized Tagged With: antique lights, caseta by lutron, chandelier, dining room, library, lighting, lighting controls, Lutron, vintage lighting

When we bought this house, I knew I wanted to change out pretty much every light in the house, along with adding Caséta by Lutron lighting controls to every switch. I’m some excited to partner with Caséta by Lutron to share so of my favorite things about these lighting controls and how flexible and fun they are! Caséta by Lutron is the premium smart lighting control that gives us peace of mind that we are always in control of our lighting, no matter where we are.

It’s nice to never be left in the dark. We even have our lights set up to the Geofencing feature so that they will turn on as soon as we pull in the driveway! It’s so nice to never come home to a dark house! And something really awesome, the Smart Bridge doesn’t use Wi-Fi, so it doesn’t slow down our network and keeps working, even if our Wi-Fi is down!

I love how this chandelier looks in our “dining” area and how we can dim the lights or have them be super bright! Most smart switches require a neutral wire; however, many homes built before the 1980s don’t have one, which creates a barrier for those wanting to start using smart lighting. Caséta by Lutron dimmers are made to work in homes, whether they have a neutral wire or not. That’s great for us, being in an old home.

We actually put this hutch in front of one of our switches. At first we thought we weren’t going to be able to use this hutch in this spot, but then Trav said, “we can just add Caséta by Lutron lighting controls to this switch and we won’t ever need to touch it.” What a smart guy! We can now use our Pico smart remote or the app on our phone to control the lighting from this switch and we can still have this beautiful hutch in this spot! Yay!

We are still in the process of moving and have so much to put away yet. If you have ever moved or renovated, or done both at the same time like us, you will understand the twirly pop mentality of my brain right now, ha. After they blasted our house with dust during concrete cutting earlier in our renovation process, I’m not sure if we will ever be dust free here.

I used vintage bedside lighting and turned it upside down for these lights above our bookshelf and I love how they turned out!

We added a smart dimmer switch to these lights as well and they are all dimmable! I love that we can set our lighting at whatever level we want with a tap on our Lutron app, with the Pico smart remote, or with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, or Apple Home Kit! Caséta by Lutron smart dimmers work with a lot of various dimmable bulb types too… you can even have vintage-style bulbs, if that’s what you would like!

I would love to hear what you think of Caséta by Lutron lighting controls and if this is something that you would like in your home too! We love these lighting controls and I’m so glad that we can have them through out our house!

You have flawless taste in lighting fixtures! Especially love the bedside lamps above the bookcases. Thanks for sharing about the controls! We have zero neutral wires in our house, as well.

Wow!!! Everything is lookin good….rather GREAT!!!! Yes, I have been through the inside cutting out of tile…..it floats EVERYWHERE!!! You can even feel the dust in your mouth. I am surprised you put out any of your books and pottery before the dust has fully settled. I know it is hard to wait for the fun part…but I would not want to re-dust. It’s funny how all your pieces of furniture are fitting just perfect when they were bought before you even knew this home existed. God knew where you would end up!!!

Things are really coming along beautifully including the lighting! Hang in there and enjoy the completed areas. Rome wasn’t built in a day! I keep telling myself this as we have tons of projects left in our home which have taken a back burner so we could remodel and sell our vacation cabin. It’s to close this week! So glad I found your blog. I love your style!

I found this old painting for $2 at a rummage sale I found this old painting for $2 at a rummage sale last weekend…I didn’t love it “as is” but with it only being $2, I wasn’t as scared to try this technique on it. I darkened the gold on the frame with some rub n buff and added glaze to the painting to make it look antique. It turned out exactly how I desired…I love the the after so much! ♥️ (more details in stories) #library #books #bookstagram #book #painting #paintingart
I found this old coffee grinder in an online aucti I found this old coffee grinder in an online auction, and I didn’t pay only $2 for it. I’m pretty sure it was one of those things where I was like, “Trav, this is going to be my birthday present” …it was months before my birthday so he forgets and still gets me something…of course I didn’t do that on purpose. 😁 I don’t buy pricey things like this often but it was something that I had been wanting for a while and they can go for $400-$500 online 🤪Lots of you ask if we use it, the answer is, I want to, but I just keep forgetting bc Trav is the one that drinks coffee and I don’t want to remind him that we have it or I might not get a birthday present this year.🤔And, I honestly don’t remember how much I paid for it but it was in the $200s …but it seems I really got it for Trav bc I don’t drink coffee🤔, but don’t tell Trav. #antiquecoffeegrinder #coffeegrinder #kitchendecor #kitchenremodel

Trav made this mantle out of a bed side rail 🤩 Trav once said we have too much stuff in the garage…but I found our mantle in the stuff 🤔…if we didn’t have stuff, we wouldn’t have this mantle😁 #mantle #mantledecor #brickfireplace #woodceiling #antiquepainting

I thought I would paint the swan …but, nope, not I thought I would paint the swan …but, nope, not after seeing it in here 🤩Oh, and the lights are back in stock and listed in my profile. 🏃‍♀️ (they are pendants but we pulled the cord through to make them flush, I love them!!) #swan #laundry #laundryroom #vanity #farmhousesink
Thanks for reminding me that I have stuff in the g Thanks for reminding me that I have stuff in the garage 😁 We covered our TV with art stuff from the garage and metal pipes and, it worked 🙌🏼😁 (see stories) I can still see the tv from the side but when we get the new wall bracket for it, that should help bc we can push it back more. It’s a good temp fix to have some cool art instead of a black box! Oh, and who remembers when I stripped this dresser? #tvart #brickfloor #oldpainting
