DIY Spoon Jewelry Holder

Filed Under: DIY Tagged With: antique, diy home, diy project, diyspoon, hooks, ideas for old spoons, jewelry holder, mug rack, necklace holder, old spoons, rack, shelf, spoondiy, spoons, vintage, ways to use old spoons

I thought it would be nice to have something to hold my necklaces since they are all basically jumbled up on a bowl and shoved in my closet right now. I think this has to be the quickest DIY that I’ve ever done.

I love old spoons and I had some extras just waiting for me to do this project. I lined them up on the piece of wood that I thought I would use. I ended up changing to a different piece of wood, but lining them up helped me to know how long I needed to cut my piece of wood.

I used this large “mallet hammer” to flatten all of the spoons. I’m sure that you could use a regular hammer as well, this one just worked a little better for me than a regular hammer.

I drilled a hole in the middle of each spoon, or at least my estimated “middle”. I’m not a girl of wondrous measuring skills, meaning, I’m impatient when it comes to measuring. I held the spoon down with my foot to hold the spoon in place for drilling.

I then used small screws to attach each spoon to the pallet board that I had chose to use.

And, that’s it! It worked perfectly! Now, I have a place to store all of my jewelry!

I’m pleasantly surprised as to how much jewelry that it holds! I will be able to get many more necklaces and other pieces of jewelry on this little spoon hook rack.

I didn’t even measure the space in between the spoons. My eyes helped me with my measuring on this little project.

I was thinking that it may be tough to get the holes drilled in to each spoon, but it was super easy! Just make sure that you have a drill bit that is able to drill through metal.

This was such a fun little project and there are so many things that it can be used for! I love how it looks with mugs too!

I think this entire project took me about an hour. I hope this inspires you to create something fun for yourself!

That’s a great idea. I need to go back and read more closely. I don’t know what kind of drill bit it takes to drill through metal spoons. Hmmmm 🤔 now I’m thinking of other things to hang on spoons (like a wreath, measuring cups, a hand towel, lost socks, hair ties.)

Love this idea! I was wondering if you thought the spoons would be strong enough to use them as a coat rack. I thought they might be stronger if I bent the handles twice? Just wondering your thoughts. Thx!!!

Do you think I bent the jigsaw blade? 😬 (swipe Do you think I bent the jigsaw blade? 😬 (swipe over) It was worth it all none the less. This was a “bench in a day” project. The thing that took the longest was refinishing it, the rest was cake...after we fixed the boards that Bob the Builder messed up. It will eventually go in the hallway. I hadn’t added the screws here yet bc I was running out of daylight to get a photo but check stories and I’ll show you how I’m (I mean Trav) is putting it together. He insisted on helping me when my arm fell off from all of the refinishing. What a sweet guy! ♥️ #rusticbench #diybench
