Amazing Dimmable Kitchen Lighting

Filed Under: Home Decor, Kitchen Tagged With: antique, brick, caseta by lutron, chandelier, diy home, home decor, kitchen, kitchen decor, kitchen reno, lighting, lighting controls, lights, Lutron, open shelving, quartzite, saltillo tile, stone countertop, vintage, wood ceilings

Having large chandeliers with lots of bulbs makes for some bright lighting! We love having these large chandeliers in our kitchen, but we rarely use them because they are so bright, until now.

(I have partnered with Lutron Electronics to share the different options that we use with our lighting controls. All opinions and reviews are my own.)

With Caséta by Lutron lighting controls, we can make all of our lights dimmable! Caséta by Lutron smart dimmers work with a wide variety of dimmable bulb types…meaning we can still use those vintage-style bulbs…if we like. Being able to dim all of our lights, is now one of my favorite things about our lighting.

We love all of the options that these lighting controls offer! Since the switch for these pendant lights is on the other side of the room, we paired a Pico Smart Remote to the smart switch so we could have a switch/remote right beside the sink.

The Pico Smart Remote has a part on the backside that can be peeled off to stick it anywhere. We added it directly to the windowsill. It’s so much more convenient now to be able to turn these pendant lights on or off when we are working at the sink!

Most smart switches require a neutral wire, but Caséta by Lutron dimmers are engineered to work in homes whether they have a neutral wire or not.

Another thing we have added recently to our oven lighting is this Diva smart dimmer. The slider on the side of the dimmer allows for setting the dimmer to any level and then when the light is turned off, the dimmer stays at that level for the next time the light it turned on…keeping our eyes from getting blasted by the super bright lights.

Caséta also provides multiple ways to control our lights – in the Lutron app, with our voice, with the smart remote, and at the switch.

We love to create scenes and schedules for different activities by setting light preferences within the app….like in our kitchen: lighting scenes for cooking or entertainment. I love that we can cook with the lights on dim mode now rather than having the lights so super bright.

Another one of my favorite things is the Geofencing feature on the Lutron app. It controls our lights based on the geographical location of our smart phone. With Caséta and the Smart Hub, we can use geofencing to automatically turn lights on as we arrive home and turn them off when we leave. It’s nice to know that we will always be entering a well lit house when we get home.

Something pretty cool…We have a wall switch that we can’t get to anymore because we chose to add this hutch in front of it. We added a dimmer switch prior to placing the hutch here and now we can use our Pico Smart Switch or the Lutron app to control that switch. It helped us to be able to use this hutch in this spot and not have to move the electrical box.

We love our Caséta by Lutron lighting controls. It gives us peace of mind knowing we are in total control of our lights, no matter where we are. There are so many possibilities and options!

These shades have so many cool and top of the line features… they run on their own smart hub, so even if our Wi-Fi goes down, our blinds still work, and we can use them no matter where we are from the Lutron app. We love these shades so much and are glad we can sleep peacefully at night in the actual dark now! #SmarterWithSerena #smarthome #smartshades #smartlighting
