A New Mat For All

Filed Under: Home Decor Tagged With: antique, better homes and gardens, bright and white, comfy, exercise, exercise mat, farmhouse style, home decor, mat, memory foam, play mat, play pen, rug, sleep, vintage, white decor

When Comfort Design reached out to me to ask if I would partner with them and review their designer play mats, I thought to myself, “I don’t have little kids anymore that can use this”. Then after thinking of all of the other uses of how this mat can be used, I was sold! These mats have so many uses, not just for kids to play on! I love that they can easily be rolled up and pushed to the side if needed as well. Comfort Design has also set up a code for free shipping for all of you! The code is: VINTAGEPORCH for free shipping. AND, they are offering $10 off their play mats through 11/12!

If you have seen Chester on my Instagram (@vintageporch), you will know he’s quite the character. He’s so loving and sweet. Something you may not know about Chester is that every blanket or dog bed that we have owned, he has chewed to pieces. That, or he does things to them that we just won’t chat about here, but I’m pretty sure you know what I mean. He doesn’t chew anything else in our home, but when we get him those items, they end up in our garbage after they are destroyed by Chester. I’m not sure why that happens. When we decided to try out this designer waterproof foam mat, we thought we would try it for him too. Instead of a dog bed, he can use this and he can’t do the unspeakable to it, even if he tried! He even lets us put a blanket on it for him and doesn’t rip it to shreds. This foam mat is “memory-foam like”, soft and cushy, while being a place for our dog to relax. It makes me feel better about him chewing a bone on this mat, rather than my rugs. If you know me, you know I’m rug crazy…but I’m not crazy about Chester chewing a bone and getting “bone flicks” all over the place on it.

Another neat thing about these mats is that they look just like a rug! The vintage look of this Vintage Damask Play Mat is why I was drawn to it.  I feel like we can use it for so many things. I would even love to use it for picnics! I know that’s not really what they are purposed for, but it makes such a great flat and cushioned surface for any place! If I still had little babies and toddlers, I know it would be great for letting them play around on too! I remember the days when my kids used to spill everything. I wish I would have had this back then.It would have been so nice to just lie on the carpet to let my kids crawl around on. It’s also made with a non-toxic foam material, is hypoallergenic, nonflammable and is latex, BPA, and PVC free!

These mats are designed with the same pattern on each side too! It feels like I’m getting a two for one! I’m pretty sure I’ll be using this mostly for an exercise mat. We have wood laminate floors throughout our home now, which I love and don’t regret for one second, but it makes it difficult to have a place to do floor exercises and not feel like I’m lying on the pavement outside. And, I don’t like doing exercises on our rugs and getting them all dirty. Having this mat, now gives me the option to exercise in comfort and not have to worry about sweating all over our rugs in our home. When I’m finished, I can just roll it up and toss it behind the sofa until I want to use it again…or until Chester decides he wants to chew his bone. And this was the best picture I could capture with him not spazzing out about his bone. No holding still when he’s got one of these.

It also has a non-skid embossed surface, which makes it so practical for all types of activities. My youngest daughter was doing her little acrobats on it the other evening. It gives her a space where she feels like she can do that in our house now, when before she was wondering where she might do that because of our hard floors. She also likes to have little sleepovers in everyone’s rooms. I’m not sure if your kids are like that but for some reason, my youngest loves to bounce from room to room to sleep, even if it’s on the floor. She just loves to be close to someone else while she’s sleeping. This mat is perfect to lie down under her little covers when she has sleepovers in all of our rooms.

These mats are super easy to clean too. The instructions are just to wipe it clean with a damp cloth. A few of the care instructions include, avoid sharp objects, direct sunlight, strong cleaning agents and heat sources such as vacuums, however it IS roomba friendly. We don’t have a roomba, but I think this gives us a reason to get one. And, just like anything else, be sure to lift furniture when positioning.

I was trying to think of a con of this mat and to be honest, I’m not sure what I would say. I guess for my situation (since I’m not using mine for an actual “rug”), I could say that the size could be a con, but that also is a pro for when I want to exercise or want to use it for something larger like the things I mentioned above. It also slides a bit on our floors when Chester is jumping around on it, but that is as to be expected with Chester. I think that the bottom line for me is that this mat is very resourceful and can work for so many different situations. I think our whole family has a reason to love it and use it for different things. And, it’s pretty. What more can I ask for? Resourceful and pretty!

I’m loving the Botanical Garden pattern too! The grey color is so perfect. They have several cute patterns and colors to choose from. If you head to their site and check out the photo they have with the Botanical Garden mat, you can see how it can be used in a room as a rug as well! I love that if fits right into the child’s room! I would love to hear what you think of these mats in the comments below. Thanks for stopping by, my friends!

I LOVE THIS! I have laminate as well and no rugs because my kids spill all over them. I have been trying to find a cute alternative and this fits the bill!

A smaller size would be beneficial for them to make. Love that idea 🙌🏼

I really want something like this but in a runner length so I can put it in my kitchen! Easy to clean up spills and messes and also comfortable to stand on. Those comfort kitchen mats at the stores are always so ugly.

I really love the look of the mat and its a bonus that it is so ideally practical. Non- skid embossed surface, easy to clean, soft, cushy and best of all the perfect place for pets to relax. I’ll certainly be looking into them. Also, I have to say Chester is a very handsome boy!

Do you think I bent the jigsaw blade? 😬 (swipe Do you think I bent the jigsaw blade? 😬 (swipe over) It was worth it all none the less. This was a “bench in a day” project. The thing that took the longest was refinishing it, the rest was cake...after we fixed the boards that Bob the Builder messed up. It will eventually go in the hallway. I hadn’t added the screws here yet bc I was running out of daylight to get a photo but check stories and I’ll show you how I’m (I mean Trav) is putting it together. He insisted on helping me when my arm fell off from all of the refinishing. What a sweet guy! ♥️ #rusticbench #diybench
