Your “Natural” Hair Product Recommendations

Filed Under: Uncategorized Tagged With: alcohol free gel, conditioner, curly hair, hair care, hair gel, hair products, natural conditioner, natural shampoo, paraben free, shampoo

I asked on my IG stories a couple of weeks ago what your suggestions were for more of a natural shampoo and conditioner. I had so many recommendations that I don’t know which one to try. I heard the name Monat and Young Living a lot when I asked for recommendations but I also know that they are multi level marketing companies. I’m not saying that is a bad thing, but I don’t want it to be a suggestion for that reason. I also had some say that they use those, aren’t selling it, and love it.

I’m also aware that a lot of these suggestions are not totally natural. I guess I don’t have to have one that is ALL natural, but desire one that doesn’t have the “bad” stuff in it, like sulfates, parabens, toxic ingredients, etc. and I think a lot of these fit that criteria. I also think there are some that are less “natural’ than others in the list.

I would like to try something that is not going to break the bank, but I’m willing to spend a little extra if it’s a great product for my hair and works well. I’m reading through your recommendations again today and I’m going to try to pin one down that I want to try.

This is the alcohol free hair gel that I’ve been trying lately. I put it on when my hair is all wet, right after my shower. I wrap my head in a t shirt after and then I just started drying it with a diffuser.

These suggestions below are by no means what I’m telling you that you should try. I’m just putting them all in a post here because there were just too many to mention on my stories and I had so many of you asking for me to share the recommendations.

I would love to hear in the comments below if there is one in particular that you love…maybe one that is on this list. It would be a great place for others reading this post to find more feedback about these too. Thanks so much for your input! I really appreciate it! So here goes:

I moved to TX from NJ in 2018. My hair rarely had breakage & I could go 6 months without a haircut. After over a year of too many haircuts because of breakage, I finally found Kristin Ness products at Target & I got my healthy hair back!! Great products.

I use function of beauty. Before I started my hair was falling out steadily from RA medication I was on. I needed help and had tried all the keratin pills, oils, etc as well as vitamin B. I wanted natural and made specific to my hair needs. A little pricey, especially because I cant work with my chronics & I dont qualify for disability????oye, I will NEVER use another shampoo & conditioner! My hair has never been so healthy and my hair started to regrow after the 1st month. I have very thin hair but alot of it, so it was very visible in the front where I lost my hair. You can get a 1 time trial or monthly subscription and the bottle comes with your name on printed on it so if more than 1 family member does it you know who’s is who’s.
    Hope this helps,

I absolutely love Prose. You can customize it to your own hair and all the ingredients are natural. It made my hair feel so much healthier than before I used it and it lasts a fairly long time.

I LOVE Monat. I’ve used it for about 2 years. It is pricey at first but the products last for 3-6 months!! Really! You don’t have to use a bunch of it. They have a great curl cream! My now (post chemo) curly hair does awesome with their curly hair products!!

I highly recommend LUS. I don’t normally comment on anything but this product has been so great for
my curly hair. I use the ‘curly’ version because I found the wavy wasn’t enough hold for me. I’ve used the shampoo & conditioner and they are good but the ‘All in one’ is great for styling – no crunch or frizz.

I’ve been using honest baby shampoo/body wash on my hair and body for years, as well as my kids. I feel it doesn’t strip the natural oils and leaves my hair clean/not weighed down with product, something us fine haired gals struggle with. I have used their baby conditioner a bunch and love it during summer for how lightweight it is. During winter I need a bit more and their “adult” honest beauty line is more pricey but lasts a long time. Their leave in conditioner spray actually works for me in summer, in lieu of traditional conditioner. I also love “hair one” which is a less expensive Wen alternative. Honest baby products are found at target, cvs, Walgreens, Amazon, and our local grocery stores, honest beauty is found at ulta and Amazon. You can also go through their website and choose to buncle more products in one shipment for a discount, what I did when I switched all my beauty products to that brand, you can change the products in your bundle anytime and I was able to gradually switch most of my beauty products this way… now just buy stuff as-needed

I have been using Wen for about 12 years and love it. For the month of March, QVC is taking 25%off all Wen products.

My daughters sell Monat hair care products, all natural. Emily is a nurse and Stephanie a speech pathologist and breast cancer survivor and mother of 2 small children. Obviously the all natural shampoo and products are very important to her after 16 months of chemo, surgery and hair loss that she has experienced. Please contact them, I know they both follow you as well as me. We love your site, your faith and family! Emily at
emilykberg and Stephanie at stephleonard28, they would love to hear from you and share their hair stories and business!

I’ve been using Monat for a year and I love it so much. I’m 30 and my hair was thinning after a stressful year. It completely grew back all of my hair and it’s healthier than ever. You can check out my before and after pics on Instagram at Emilykberg

I have used so many of the shampoos on the list and I would have to say for me nothing stood out more than Monat. I have had postpartum hair loss and my hair became so dry and brittle. I have been using Monat hair products for 3 months now and loving how my hair feels, looks way healthier than before.

I’ve recently started using the Hairitage by Mindy Knight and it’s smells amazing! After following Mindy on instagram and the story behind her brand is AMAZING! I’ve loved all of her products! I also love how inexpensive they are. They can be found at any local Walmart and all of products are under $8.00. As a mother on a budget you can’t beat the price and supporting a family brand!

SO SO HAPPY to see that Monat is #1 on this list. I have been using Monat for exactly one year now and I am SO please with the results I’ll never use anything else again. No I don’t sell it I just really have seen what a huge difference it has made for my hair which has always been very fine but thick and frizzy/curly, when I decided to go blonde last year I severely damaged my hair to where it was thin and super frizzy but one year later after I went back to natural color and only use Monat products now including styling products my hair is so thick that my hair stylist girl has to plan for an extra hour every appointment because washing, cutting, and blow drying takes so long now and she even comments on how healthy and long it grows every time. I do have to say, there is like a 2 to 3 week adjustment period when you first switch to Monat to where your hair feels grimey almost because it is I guess detoxing your hair of everything that has been weighing it down and then once I got through that period I noticed how shiny and much more volume it had. ALSO it may seem kinda pricey for such a small bottle but let me tell you, I only have to wash my hair once MAYBE twice a week now because it just never gets oily or yucky looking/feeling anymore. I have had the same bottle of shampoo and conditioner for 5 months now and have probably a month or so left of it. It’s the best, hands down the best!

Forgot to add that Monat has a men’s line called Black, my boyfriend has been using the shampoo/conditioner 2 in 1 for 6 months now and is already seeing hair growing back where he was starting to horseshoe, he uses the beard oil and beard paste stuff too. The whole line is honestly amazing

I’ve tried so many natural shampoo and conditioners, most left my hair oily or just gross. Hands down, Alba Botanica. It’s absolutely the BEST!

Also, be careful of Wen and Monat. They both have issues with hair loss after using. Jennifer Allwood did a IG story about her experience with Wen, I believe.

I am sure a lot of these are great! I have used Bo Stegall for a year now and I love his story about why he created it, as well as my hair! My hair is so soft and healthy even though I color it. It is a little pricey but it does last a while.

You missed my suggestion!! Missio is AH-MAZING! And pretty sure all natural. One of my FAVORITE things is they give part of their proceeds to end human trafficking and they educate people on this matter a lot!! You should totally check out their Instagram!!!

We have used the JASON brand shampoo for over a year now and love it. Inexpensive, fragrance free, super clean. Also, honest company fragrance free conditioner works well and the everyone for every body brand of soaps, shampoos, etc. is very clean. Sometimes products can seem clean but have fragrance that could really mean anything.

I have been using Maple Holistics tea tree for years too and love that. I actually shared about both today on IG @alittlelesstoxic too. Natalie, I love your page and all you share. xoxox

I had breast implant illness too, so I have done a TON of research on this and have tried so many of the brands you listed – I’ve spent a fortune! The gel you’re using is super clean and is free of silicones. ???? Most silicones are “natural” but cause issues for some people, especially if you have a sensitivity to silicone like those of us who have suffered from BII. Most of the ones you starred actually contain silicones (all of the MLM ones have dimethicone or siloxanes, which are silicones). Carina Organics, Acure, Shea Moisture, and a lot of the other brands you listed are clean, work great, are not MLMs, and don’t contain silicones.

I tried monat for 6 months quietly because I thought there’s no way it could work that well. Jokes on me. Over Three years later and my hair is healthier, more manageable, easier to take care of and the shine is ???????? Find someone who knows the products well and will take care of you fully-having the right products and knowing how to use them properly is key!!!! Feel free to email if you have questions!

I highly highly recommend Avada. I’m a hair stylist and have working in an Aveda Salon for a few years now. Right now I’m personally using their new Nutri Plenish and love it. If you go into an aveda salon (only Aveda salons carry Aveda) they can help you out and answer any questions you may have and help you get the product that’s right for you.if you try Aveda give it a couple of weeks to adjust because it is so natural it takes some time to get used to.
