Our New Mannington Floors: Phase One

I’m so excited to share our flooring journey with you. Last year about a month before Christmas, I managed to leave the water on in our laundry room sink with the drain plugged. After hours of forgetting about it and wondering why it was raining in our downstairs hallway, I ran upstairs to find about 3 inches of water in our laundry room, along with about 4 other rooms that the water had ran into. All I could think was, “I can’t believe I forgot that” and “I need to save my painted laundry room floors. I also envisioned someone coming in and making us use this old flooded carpet after it dried out. We proceeded to call the restoration company and lived with fans for about 5 days. Once everything was dry, only one spot of drywall needed to be cut out of the ceiling in our downstairs bathroom and we were left with loads of gross, water damaged carpet with trim boards ripped off of our walls everywhere. I was a mess and thought we would never be able to afford to replace our flooring. I never imagined that our insurance would help us with the cost. I had only heard horror stories of insurance companies not helping in times of crisis. After meeting with our insurance company and months of planning, I am happy to say that my accidental flood is turning out to be one of the best moments that we’ve had. Not so much during the process, but the result of all of this beautiful Mannington Flooring makes the toil all worth it.

First, let me tell you how AHHHHHHMAZING this Mannington Flooring is. This is wood laminate and you would never know by looking at it that it is not real wood. The look, the texture, the color…it’s all so gorgeous! I just can’t stop staring. And besides being amazingly gorgeous, there are so many other benefits of this flooring. It is made in the USA, environmentally friendly, scratch resistant, and indentation resistant! The quality is outstanding! AND, it is spill shield protected which means it will not be damaged by ordinary spills and pet messes that are removed within 72 hours. That is just what this girl needs! I can’t say enough good things about this flooring. I could go on and on all day! Restoration Collection® is FloorScore® certified and meets stringent indoor air quality standards. The color of my flooring is Fairhaven Brushed Natural and it is the Restoration Wide Plank Collection. Thank you for helping me choose a color, here. There are so many great colors and options that they offer and you can see all of the different colors in this post.

Our flooring arrived about a week ago and to be honest, I wasn’t sure where we were even going to put all of it…3,000 sq ft of flooring is quite a lot. We cleared out this area in our front living area and yay, it fit!! So, let the mess begin!

We had “Complete Flooring” begin the install upstairs because the fact that we will have to have them break out the tile in the downstairs. We are also waiting on some items to renovate our downstairs master bathroom, which is another story for a different day. And, can just say that Complete Flooring’s crew are the hardest and most efficient workers that I have ever seen. They get the job done great and they get it done fast! And, they have even dealt with moving all of our crap, with smiles on their faces and no complaints. They are very kind. I am so pleased with how the flooring is looking up to this point. I can’t wait to see it all finished! From the moment they laid the first board, I knew I was in love.

I tried my best to get some photos in decent lighting in between all of the chaos going on around…and by chaos, I mean my kids have been home all week. Nothing like a little of our junk lying around in about every corner of our house and pretty much every place that’s not a corer too.

And, wholla! I’m sure the workers did not feel that way but that’s what if felt like to me. I can’t believe how fast they work! And, it’s gooooooorgeous!

A little dust cannot keep me from taking photos. But check out the beautiful character and the amazing texture of each piece of wood. As you can see, my shelves all over my home sure did help to hold all of my loads of decor stuff. There’s nothing like putting flooring into a designer’s home, I’m sure. I’m like part hoarder.

Now that this room is complete (just trim boards to go), it becomes the dumping ground for all of the furniture from the other spaces that need to be completed. So, I snapped a quick photo before the furniture from the other spaces started getting moved into this space.

My daugther was pretty happy to be able to sleep in her bed last night. I’m loving the contrast that the floors give to our entire home!

And, my oldest daughter’s room is now complete too. She is looooooving it! I wish I would have gotten her initial reaction on video.

Still alot of clean up to do but the bottom line is LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! And I wouldn’t mind getting those boobs off of the ceiling either.

And, there is still a lot of work to be finished but I wanted to share the beginning stages with all of you and show you how amazing this flooring is. I. AM. SO. HAPPY!!! The first time in my 41 years of living that I’ve had the floors of my dreams and no carpeting. And thank you for being happy with me. It’s so much more fun to go through this journey with all of you, my friends!

I would love to hear what you think of our new floors and the colors we choose. Have a great day, friends!

Oh my gosh, Natalie, it’s coming out fabulous! I cannot imagine the stress of having your kids home this week in addition to workers moving around everything in your house. ???? Btw, may I suggest you leave the toilet in the tub. Seems like it would be a good multi-tasking opportunity. ????

The floors look beautiful. What a blessing your humble words are and knowing you get to finally get floors you truly want is such a gift. I remember when we began gutting parts of our 1800 farmhouse over 20 years ago, we lived with plywood subfloor in our kitchen for over 6 months while working. All I can say is that when we finally put “affordable” linoleum tile down, I felt like God had given me a bit of heaven. I love watching your insta stories every morning when I get up. You and your fun humor and all you do inspire me each day to tackle a new project and be daring and try new things. Thank you. Thank you for being so real, and for showing us what we can find at Walmart!!! Enjoy your new floors ????

I love your new flooring. I have Mannington flooring in my kitchen and dining room also. I have had it for about 20 years. It looks as good today as the day it was put down. I love mine too. Would like to do my living room someday, it’s a great flooring. Wears very well.

Your floors are incredibly gorgeous!!!! I can hear & see the excitement and gratefulness in your voice. IM so happy for you. The color, depth & texture are equally so. You are going to love them and the ease in caring for them.

We got new laminate flooring in Sept 2017 and wherein we love it, once down, I realized I might have chosen the wrong color. No turning back at that expense. It’s the barnwood flooring in gray and I so wish I would have gone with brown tones. But we’re making it work. Don’t get me wrong, it is beautiful, but a little cold. WE have a family of 7 ranging from 14 to 68 (me). We moved from California after buying a house in Oklahoma, sight unseen. Whatever was I thinking? Two days after we arrived, but 11 days before our furniture arrived, we had a flood in the house. Not a pipe burst, but an outside “mucky moused” French drain backed up and cane pouring into the living room & dining room. All floors had to be replaced once the damage control people completed their task. So all floors had to be taken up (ceramic tile throughout). Needless to say, we were in a huge hurry to get this done…made a quick, but lasting decision on the barnwood gray floors. It is what it is and the company that put the floors in wouldn’t put baseboards in, so we are living with beautiful floors with no baseboards ????. WE need to find someone to install them. Perhaps we’ll line the floors better once the baseboards are installed. We’ve worked on one room at a time. THe living room is nearly complete. Next project is the kitchen. I have watched your tutorial about repainting cabinets and it’s invaluable to me. THANK YOU!

We just bought an iRobot Roomba for cleaning all the floors (daily). It’s better been a lifesaver. Cost is about $400 but well worth the investment.

    Happy flooring, happy decorating.

So I have real hardwood through my
Entire house except the kids bed rooms upstairs and an office and kitchen. Do you think this kind of flooring would look ok against real hardwood? I had it in my old house and loved it but I did not have the real stuff there. Does this make sense?!? ????

Emily, I love how the flooring works against our dark hickory stair case. I imagine it would work great!

I’ve always loved these metal coco liner baskets I’ve always loved these metal coco liner baskets, but they don’t hold water well for the desert and things dry out too fast here…so, I took the ones that have the water holder in the bottom and put them inside them. And, now they will be larger and cuter….I’m hoping for the best flowering outcome🙌
Fountains aren’t just for water 😁….not done Fountains aren’t just for water 😁….not done here yet but I thought this would be a good solution for our fountain since it was getting too much water on the adobe brick on our house (that can break down over time when getting wet) …if we ever want to use it as a fountain again we can, or it can just house some cool plants. I think a billion succulents would be cool in here too
