Making Free Fall Art

My daughter has been all about drying leaves this Fall. She has even been making her own Fall art with her little leaves. I just love that she is enjoying crafting as much as I do. I made a couple of these last year and it was so fun that we continued making them this year for Fall. I love that you don’t have to spend a dime on this project. All you need is a frame that you have lying around and leaves from a tree or the ground outside. We have a pool and my daughter actually pulled these small leaves out of the pool and we dry pressed them in books. For the drying process we placed the leaves in between some pages in books and then stacked something heavy on top of the book. We allowed them to dry for a few days and then pulled them out of the books. This has to be the easiest project ever, which makes me so happy. My dog could probably even make this.

When we carefully took the leaves out of the book we just placed them on the pages where we thought we would like them and then used spray adhesive or modge podge on the backs of the smaller leaves and tape for the larger leaves to make them stick to our paper. We used white card stock paper. And that’s it! Spray, glue, or tape and press into place and done! I painted a couple of my frames that I had picked up at thrift stores. Finding cheap frames is the best. Even if they aren’t the prettiest, they can always be painted. I love that the leaf art in frames that I made last year held up so well.  Pumpkins and leaves sure have gotten me into the Fall spirit. It doesn’t matter much here in Tucson since it’s still 90 degrees outside. Oh well, a fair trade for nice winters. I hope to see all of your Fall art. Please tag me on Instagram @vintageporch. I would love to see it!

I get a lot of questions about the paint used on this dresser. I used Miss Mustard Seed color Trophy and sealed it with Miss Mustard Seed Dark Wax. This was my first time using milk paint and it was like love at first stroke. I am dying to try Miss Mustard Seed Farmhouse White milk paint too.

I found this old coffee grinder in an online aucti I found this old coffee grinder in an online auction, and I didn’t pay only $2 for it. I’m pretty sure it was one of those things where I was like, “Trav, this is going to be my birthday present” …it was months before my birthday so he forgets and still gets me something…of course I didn’t do that on purpose. 😁 I don’t buy pricey things like this often but it was something that I had been wanting for a while and they can go for $400-$500 online 🤪Lots of you ask if we use it, the answer is, I want to, but I just keep forgetting bc Trav is the one that drinks coffee and I don’t want to remind him that we have it or I might not get a birthday present this year.🤔And, I honestly don’t remember how much I paid for it but it was in the $200s …but it seems I really got it for Trav bc I don’t drink coffee🤔, but don’t tell Trav. #antiquecoffeegrinder #coffeegrinder #kitchendecor #kitchenremodel

Thanks for reminding me that I have stuff in the g Thanks for reminding me that I have stuff in the garage 😁 We covered our TV with art stuff from the garage and metal pipes and, it worked 🙌🏼😁 (see stories) I can still see the tv from the side but when we get the new wall bracket for it, that should help bc we can push it back more. It’s a good temp fix to have some cool art instead of a black box! Oh, and who remembers when I stripped this dresser? #tvart #brickfloor #oldpainting
